Save Water, Save Earth

Only 3% of the Earth's surface water consists of Fresh Water, whereas the other 97% is made up of Saltwater. In addition, only one-third of the Fresh Water is available to us as the rest unreachable as they are in ice caps, glaciers and underground reservoirs. Thus, about on ly 0.3% is ready for use.

Besides, 60-70% of the fresh water comes from artesian or underground water sources, and the water in most of these is being used much faster as compared to the recharge rate.

Streams, rivers and wetlands though contain large parts of precios water, but they also are like big drains, and everything we leave around them ends up in them.

Some Facts:

#1: There is so much toxic waste in the Ganges River in India; it has caught fire several times.

#2: In parts of Europe and America, lakes are so polluted with acids that no fish are able to survive in them.

#3: Dirty water is one of the world's largest killers. About 5 million people die from diseases every year carried in drinking water.

#4: We dump a massive 7 billion tonnes of rubbish into the world's oceans every year and almost half is plastic.

Water is a essential part for our survival, thus we should do whatever we can in order to ensure the continuity of this valueable and essential natural resource.

Furthermore, with the immense increase in population growth over the years, more pressure is being put on the water supply whether for industrial, commercial or domestic use.

Below are some tips for conserving water:

1* Try not to plant big tress close to your drainage systems, as they can
cause drains to block or rapture

2* Avoid flushing fats, oils and any other toxic acids down the wastewater
system

3* Do not use running water to thaw meat or other frozen foods. Defrost food
overnight in the refridgerator or by using the defrost setting on your microwave

4* Store drinking water in the refrigerator rather than letting the tap run
every times you want a cool glass of water

5* Avoid flushing the toilet unneccesarily. Dispose of tissues, insects and
other such watse in the trash rather than in the toilet.

6* NEVER put water down the drain if there may be other uses for it, such as
watering the plants or flushing the toilet.

Each part we play, we make a difference.
