Appreciation
Dear Ms Chua,
Thank You.
Thank you for your encouraging words of wisdom. Thank you for your understanding towards us. Thank you for believing in us.
When I'm in the dumps, and at the bottom-most level of hopelessness, it's always nice to know that someone somewhere out there is/was once there too. Someone who could truly empathize with you. Thank you for being that Someone.
It wasn't the usual harsh tone one would expect to be receiving, which is so commonly used that it seemed only adequate to expect it lashing its way forward towards us. Yet, what was presented was none other than a passionate voice which genuinely expressed its hope and desire for us to do no less, only better.
For me, it wasn't so much the contents I was looking out for initially- afterall, how much different could your msg be from the ones which have been repeatedly told to us by our tutors/lecturers/parents/seniors - "you need to work harder/get your act together", "reflect on what you did wrong and take action", "your cohort did worse than the previous few batches" etc. - but more towards the way you would be putting it across, although to be honest, i wasn't really expecting much deviation from the common standards. Yet, you took me by surprise.
You spoke in a confident yet almost calming fashion. Thus, somehow, although your message is almost alike, it felt easier to digest, easier to relate to.
So Thank You. Thank you for specially taking the time off to talk to us, to inspire us. You're truly a special Teacher.
Time to get my act together.
Thank You.
