A lifetime of happiness.
Ms Soh recently screened Steven Spielberg's film, "The Minority Report", during GP class. T'was definitely a great and thought provoking film, although we didn't manage to watch it in full; but enough to get the ideas by.
Science and technology as a general topic has always been an instant rejection to me because I thought I was never really too keen on the technical aspect of it and of its pervasiveness of our life today. Still do think so though. Only that I've realised how I've been too quick in dismissing it as a personal "taboo" and completely overlooking its philosophical relations. As the GP lesson was being conducted on Wed, where we did a review of the film, a consolidation of all the issues featured and extended throughout the film definitely triggered much thought. And as I recall the prof from SMU referring to how philosophy was a discipline which all should be exposed to since young as it forms the basis of knowledge, such as ethics and morals whih we are exposed to since a child through nursery rhymes and fairytale classics - this i can't help but agree. Thoughts on the issues of the significance of personal privacy vs national security, the sanctity of human life; the human worth or worthlessness, the adaptability of mankind and much much more were sprung and touched upon over the course of the hour (which definitely wasnt enough) and really provoked much thought. At least for me. So hopefully i'll be able to bury myself back into the notes and film and thought and start developing ideas on these heartfelt issues, not just for GP, but for knowledge and hopefully wisdom. :)
Apart from that, today is Ser Yeh's 18th birthday! :) Such a joy and blessing and darling to have around :) Yay to more HELMie moments, and thank you for colouring my life :) <3
